Ralph Ellison’s classic and groundbreaking novel, Invisible Man (1952), tracks the journey of a nameless black man who searches for himself on an aimless and oppressive life voyage. In his wanderings, he never becomes “visible” in the deeply segregated world he occupies.Over fifty years later, black men in America are faced with a different sort of invisibility. Those who find success, particularly in predominantly white environments, aren’t fully recognized as role models for others to emulate. This, at a time when the need for leaders in black America has never been greater.Visible Men reveals the breadth of black male accomplishment in America. The movement highlights successful black men in America and will celebrate them as worthy, yet under-recognized role models. Most importantly, Visible Men connects young black boys to these success models in a variety of ways.We know the problems. We know the struggles. We know the statistics.It’s long past time to focus on the solutions.  The mission of Visible Men is to elevate black boys and men to new heights of achievement, fulfillment, happiness and social contribution.  Let’s get to work!
