inVision Project – Sligo Middle SchoolSchool/Agency Profile inVision Project – Program Outline InVision Project – Program Overview Visible Men is thrilled to announce its partnership with the Family Support Center and the launch of the inVision Project at Sligo Middle School in Silver Spring, MD in the fall of 2009. The inVision Project is a voluntary program at Sligo for black boys, grades 6-8. A select group of students will be invited to participate in this empowering and dynamic program. The inVision Project will commence in October 2009, meeting after school once a week until May 2010. The program will meet occasionally on the weekend for offsite field trips. Transportation, equipment, and materials will be provided. There is no fee for the student participants. Facilitators will include the founder of Visible Men, Neil Phillips an identified Sligo teacher/staff member, and a social worker from Family Support Center. This talented team will complement one another to ensure that the program participants commit to a healthy journey of self-discovery. The skills and experience of the program leaders, combined with an innovative curriculum and an emphasis on personal responsibility and teamwork, will help students develop a road map for achievement. Finally, each inVision Project participant will receive a Visible Men Success Kit that will provide them with helpful tools to get and stay on the path to success. Also, participants will be credited for the Success Reports they develop, some of which will be featured on the Visible Men web site and used in other media initiatives. The program will conclude with a banquet dinner for students and their families to celebrate the work, commitment, and accomplishments of the inVision Project participants.
